We process personal data on our website in order to fulfil our contract with you when you make a purchase.
The data we collect is only used in this regard. We don’t share your data with anyone or any other company and you are in control of the data we hold for you. We certainly do not rent or sell your information to anyone.
The only personal data we have and the reasons for holding this information is as follows:
Your Name (first and last) – so we know to whom to send the tea order out to
Address & Post Code – so we know where to send the tea order to
Email Address – this is used as the account identifier and where we send order confirmations
Phone Number (optional) – we ask for this as it is helpful if there is a problem with your order and we need to contact you. If this is not provided then we can contact you by email. Your phone number is not used for any other purpose.
If you are sending an order to a different address from your billing address or to someone else as a gift then these details are also held for the same reasons as above.
During the checkout process there is an option (check box) which you can tick if you would like to sign up to our mailing list. There is not a requirement to do so to complete your order – it is entirely optional.
You can also add your name to our mailing list by putting in your email in the forms shown on our website.
We do not add your email to our mailing list without your consent. If you email in a query to us we do not take this as consent to add you to our mailing list.
We process orders using our website which is powered by Shopify. This is a standard e-commerce website solution used by many online retailers. More information about Shopify can be found at www.shopify.co.uk.
We use Shopify to manage and process your order. Payment information is handled using Shopify’s payment system which is powered by Stripe. We never have access to your payment information. When a refund is due we use Shopify to do this and this is then refunded to the original card used. We won’t offer a refund by any other method.
The IP address (this is the number assigned to each device connected to a computer network) is used to help protect us from fraud. It is used to verify and check the location an order was made from. A flag is raised when the IP address used to place the order differs from the location where the order is being sent. An example of this would be if an order was placed whilst on holiday abroad but the delivery/invoice address was here in the UK. Shopify payments also has systems in place to protect against fraud.
Most of our orders are taken through the website but orders can be taken over the phone. Only over the phone transactions are where we have access to your credit card information which is never stored. We will never call up or email you asking for credit card information if you have already paid for the order online.
In using Shopify you can edit what data we hold for you under your account details if you have registered for one. If you wish for the data to be deleted then you will have to contact us and we will remove the information that we hold for you. Please note that we have to hold onto your information if an order has been made within the last 30 days in case of a refund arising. We will not be able to refund you through an alternative means.
What do we send you? Automated emails are sent to you as follows when you place an order:
- An order confirmation when you have placed an order.
- A follow up email once your order has been dispatched.
- After about 10 days we send you an email to see how the order was and give you the opportunity to review the product and ask any questions you may have. We only send out one of these emails and never do any reminders. If you do not wish to be sent a review email then please let us know and we can remove you from this.
No other emails will be sent as part of the order process unless you get in touch with us in which case we will reply to your query.
Email Mailing List
When you sign up to our mailing list this is done using a company called Omnisend. This is an industry standard for sending out and controlling mailing lists. More information about Omnisend can be found at https://www.omnisend.com/.
When you subscribe to our mailing list - either through the pop up on our website or click the button during checkout - then you'll be added to our list on Omnisend.
